In four counts of the Indictment, the accused Milorad Obradović is charged with crimes committed against victims of Bosniak ethnicity, in Miska Glava, in Prijedor Municipality.
Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes has issued an Indictment against the following person:
- Milorad Obradović aka ‘‘Stiven’’, born in 1967 in Prijedor.
This accused is charged with participating, together with other persons, in a widespread and systematic attack against Bosniak civilians on the territory of Prijedor and its surroundings, in July of 1992, as well as with participating, personally and directly, in the capture of around 120 Bosniak civilians in Miska Glava, who were unlawfully imprisoned, tortured and mistreated and then executed at the location of Kipe-Ljubija.
According to the evidence collected, only three persons managed to survive the execution and flee from the execution site, and at least fifteen underage persons were among the persons killed.
Also, this accused is charged with shooting from firearms at close range at the football field of the Rudar Football Club, and killing, personally and directly and in front of other prisoners, three captured civilians of Bosniak ethnicity.
This accused person is charged with the commission of the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity, as referred to in Article 172 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be proving the allegations in the Indictment by summonsing around thirty witnesses and expert witnesses, including around ten witnesses who will give their statements with protection measures; moreover, around 200 pieces of evidentiary material will be submitted.
The accused Obradović had recently been extradited to the BiH judiciary from the Federal Republic of Germany.
The extension of the measure of custody has been proposed in respect of the accused due to the risk of flight and the risk that, if at large, he might interfere with the investigation, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accessories (Article 132, items a) and b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina).
The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is conducting the proceedings in the case against Slobodan Taranjac and others, in relation to the aforementioned war crime; consequently, joinder of the proceedings with this case has been proposed.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
