Acting Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office Gordana Tadić and Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić - contact point for EUROJUST, participated at the conference “Eurojust and cooperation with third states” – experiences and challenges in the Western Balkan countries.
The conference, organized by the Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office of Montenegro with support of GIZ - project IPA 2017 - "Fight against serious crime in the Western Balkan", was held in Podgorica.
Central topics of the conference were the previous experiences, achieved results and challenges in the cooperation of EUROJUST with the countries of the Western Balkan.
Ladislav Hamran - President of EUROJUST, Ivica Stankovic- Supreme State Prosecutor of Montenegro, Zoran Pažin - Minister of Justice of Montenegro as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps in Montenegro addressed the conference participants.
EUROJUST is the European Union’s Judicial Cooperation Unit based in The Hague, the Netherlands, which assists the Member States in the fight against terrorism and serious forms of organized crime occurring in the territory of two or more Member States. EUROJUST also has agreements in place with countries outside the EU, as well as judicial contact points, including the one in BiH, with which it maintains cooperation and exchanges information.
The BiH Prosecutor’s Office representatives held a bilateral meeting with EUROJUST Vice President Klaus Meyer-Cabri discussing the progress made by BiH and the remaining obligations required to meet the conditions for launching negotiations and signing an agreement with EUROJUST, which involves the Ministry of Justice of BiH and the Agency for Protection of Personal Data of BiH.
The BiH Prosecutor’s Office has participated, on several occasions, in international operations coordinated by EUROJUST aimed at countering organized crime committed in BiH and other countries.
