The former commanders and members of the 5th Corps of the Army of the R BiH, who are suspected of war crimes committed during 1994 and 1995, were deprived of their liberty. Searches were conducted on 17 locations.
Pursuant to the order of a Prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, SIPA police officers have, with the support of the Una Sana Canton and Canton 10 MoI, apprehended Atif Dudaković - former commander of the 5th Corps of the Army of the R BiH and 11 other officials and members of the 5th Corps of the Army of the R BiH.
The persons under investigation are suspected of committing the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172 of the CC BiH, and the suspect Atif Dudaković is suspected of committing the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173 of the CC BiH.
The conducted operation is the result of a lengthy and thorough investigation by the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH during which hundreds of witnesses were examined and several hundred pieces of evidence, including archival documents, video footage, as well as evidence related to the exhumations and identification of the killed persons, collected.
The investigated War Crimes are related to the killings of hundreds of victims both civilians and captured Serb soldiers from the territory of the West-Krajina municipalities in 1995 as well as war crimes committed against Bosniak civilians - members of the AP Western Bosnia in 1994.
Following the deprivation of liberty the suspects will be handed over to the Assigned Prosecutor for further action.
