INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENCE OF SMUGGLING OF GOODS

Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against Siniša Lazić, born in 1982 in Doboj, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  

This accused person is charged with smuggling from the Republic of Serbia to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina textile goods of a larger value, namely, clothing items of various world famous brands with labels by manufacturers from several countries, in early morning of 26 March 2017, at the location of the Zvornik Lake in Zvornik Municipality.

According to the allegations in the Indictment, this accused person committed smuggling of the aforementioned goods in agreement with a person from the Republic of Serbia, in such a way that the latter transported the goods by boat from the territory of the Republic of Serbia and across the Drina River, and then the accused unloaded and took over the goods and thereafter he got in his vehicle and started driving towards the BiH inland.

This accused person was then stopped at the local road and controlled by the police officers of the Border Police Unit in Zvornik, and the aforementioned goods were confiscated from him after the search of the vehicle’s interior.

By the subsequent assessment performed by the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was determined that the goods were in the total value of BAM 107,550.90.

The accused Lazić is charged with moving across the customs line goods of a larger value, by avoiding measures of customs control, whereby he committed the criminal offence of Smuggling of Goods, as referred to in Article 214, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
