INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST DANIJEL ČALE (1989) FOR ILLICIT TRADE IN EXCISE PRODUCTS

Prosecutor of the Department III of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against Danijel Čale, born in 1989 in Mostar, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This accused person is charged with transporting a larger quantity of tobacco in a passenger motor vehicle, in the area of the Posušje-Tomislavgrad highway, which was not labelled with excise stamps as prescribed by the tax legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and which he intended to put into further circulation.

During the search of the said passenger vehicle, which was conducted on 21 December 2016 by authorized official persons of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the quantity of 48 kilograms of dry cut tobacco, wrapped in bags of half a kilo each, was found in the trunk of the vehicle.

The excise and tax duties for the aforementioned quantity of tobacco amount to several thousand BAM, which is the amount of the damage done to the budget of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  

The accused Čale is charged with the commission of the criminal offense of Illicit Trade in Excise Products, as referred to in Article 210a, Paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 26 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
