The BiH Prosecutor’s Office has, in cooperation with its U.S. partner institutions, conducted activities to collect evidence about the role of the suspect in the war in BiH.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH acted on the request for provision of mutual legal assistance of the United States in the criminal case against the suspect Siniša Đurđić, cooperated with the US judicial institutions in terms of exchange of information of importance for the conduct of this procedure and provided assistance by directly interviewing witnesses in a war crime case.
Siniša Đurđić is under investigation of the U.S. Judiciary for concealing his war-time past when gaining admission into the United States, which is punishable under U.S. Immigration Laws.
Đurđić is also suspected of committing war crimes in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH case and his extradition to Bosnia and Herzegovina will be requested from the U.S. Authorities.
The Prosecutor’s Office is investigating Siniša Đurđić due to existence of grounds for suspicion that while acting in his capacity as the guard in the prison camps “Bunker” /Bunker/ located next to the boarding house Kon Tiki in Vogošća and "Planjina kuća" /Planjo’s house/ in Svrake, he perpetrated acts of torture and ill-treatment of prisoners in these facilities during the war in BiH.
In the mentioned case, the BiH Prosecutor’s Office has, within mutual legal assistance, examined a total of 18 witnesses residing in the territory of BiH, whose statements were necessary for U.S. colleagues. The BiH Prosecutor’s Office would like to thank the U.S. Judiciary for its assistance and cooperation in detecting and locating this suspect.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is, together with its partner institutions, conducting activities on identifying, locating and extraditing to BiH war crimes suspects hiding in all parts of the world, which is an important step in the fight against impunity for war crimes.
