SUSPECT OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN FOČA DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY UPON ORDER OF BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

This suspect is under investigation and he is charged with the perpetration of war crimes against the victims of Bosniak ethnicity in Foča, in 1992, while he was a member of police.

Acting pursuant to an order issued by a Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) located Dragan Janjić, born in 1967, in the area of Rudo, and deprived him of liberty.

This suspect is under investigation and he is charged with acting in violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law and Geneva Conventions relative to the protection of civilian persons in time of war, in the course of 1992, while the suspect was a member of the Ministry of the Interior, Police Station in Miljevina.

He is suspected of perpetrating the war crime of rape and sexual abuse of one victim of Bosniak ethnicity, as well as of perpetrating unlawful deprivations of liberty and imprisonments of civilians of Bosniak ethnicity.

During the day, this suspect will be handed over to the Prosecutor in charge of this case, who will question him and subsequently decide whether to put forward a motion for custody.
