EXHUMATION AT VOZUĆA SITE COMPLETED; MORTAL REMAINS OF TWO MORE PERSONS FOUND

An exhumation, which was coordinated by an Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina under the supervision of the Prosecutor in charge of the case, was completed at the location of Podsjelovo, in the wider area of Vozuća, and complete skeletal remains of two persons were exhumed.  

According to the available information and evidence, those are the victims of Serb ethnicity who were killed at the site in Vozuća, in 1995.

The recovered mortal remains were transported to Banjaluka, to the jurisdiction of the Institute for Forensic Medicine of Republika Srpska, where expert forensic examination and crime investigation processing will be performed and bone samples will be taken so that the victims could be identified by way of the DNA analysis, and so that the cause of death could be determined.

The exhumation was coordinated by an Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who was present in the field, whereas the process of searching for, and exhumation of the mortal remains was carried out with the participation of the representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, representatives of the Institute for Forensic Medicine of Republika Srpska, an expert forensic pathologist, necessary workers with adequate mechanisation, as well as in the presence of the police officers of the Police Station in Zavidovići, who secured the site and carried out crime investigation processing of evidence and the scene, and the members of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre (BHMAC) and the Civilian Protection Administration of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, respectively.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with institutions involved in the process of tracing missing persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina, continues with the activities related to exhumations and searching for the missing persons in all areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
