Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against Vuk Ratković, born in 1950 in Nova Gajdobra, in the Republic of Serbia, residing in Višegrad, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia.
This accused person is charged with acting in contravention of the provisions of the Geneva Convention relative to the protection of civilian persons in time of war, in the period from June of 1992 and until the end of the first half of January of 1993, during the war and armed conflict between the Army of Republika Srpska and the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the territory of the Municipality of Višegrad.
According to the allegations in the Indictment, this accused person, as a soldier of the Višegrad Brigade of the Army of Republika Srpska, Military Post 7158 in Višegrad, committed the criminal offense of War Crimes against the Civilian Population in the territory of the Municipality of Višegrad.
He is charged with torturing, mistreating and beating a victim on several occasions, and with the rape and sexual abuse of this victim, thus inflicting severe physical and mental injuries upon the victim and permanent consequences due to the mistreatment, which the victim still suffers.
Due to all the aforementioned, this accused person is charged with the commission of the criminal offense of War Crime against the Civilian Population, as referred to in Article 142 of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
