At the site of Miljevina - Tunnels, in the area of Foča Municipality, an exhumation was carried out. A Legal Officer of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was present at the site, coordinating the exhumation process, as ordered by the Prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes in charge of the respective case.
In the past days of the search, at least five incomplete skeletal remains were found, which are presumed to belong to the civilians of Bosniak ethnicity.
The found mortal remains were transported to Goražde, where forensic and crime investigation processing will be performed and bone samples will be taken so that the victims’ identities could be determined in the process of the DNA analysis.
The exhumation was coordinated by a Legal Officer of the Special Department for War Crimes at the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Officers of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons and an expert forensic pathologist were participating in the search for, and the exhumation of, the mortal remains, and necessary workers and adequate mechanization were also employed. Police officers of the Ministry of the Public Security Centre of Istočno Sarajevo were securing the location.
