During the visit colleagues from Montenegro heard about the history, internal organization and the results of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, as well as the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office in the field of media and public relations and cooperation with the local community.
A delegation of prosecutors from Montenegro, headed by Veselin Vučković - State Prosecutor in the Supreme Public Prosecutor’s Office of Montenegro came to a visit organized by the US Embassy in Podgorica and Mr. Erik N. Larson and met with Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH - Gordana Tadić, Deputy Chief Prosecutor - Ozrenka Nešković and Deputy Head of the Special Department for War Crimes, Izet Odobašić.
The current work and results of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH achieved in the past 15 years of its existence were presented to the colleagues from Montenegro as well as history and internal organization of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
Visitors from Montenegro were especially interested in the segment of public relations and media, as well as cooperation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH with the local community, as the prosecutor’s office is a judicial institution that implements a number of activities in this segment.
Head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH - Boris Grubešić presented about the activities and capacities of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, as well as daily and periodic activities that are realized in cooperation with the media and the local community.
During the visit, colleagues from Montenegro heard about the capacities of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as about the new building of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH which was built with the support of the European Commission.
The Prosecutor’s Office functions as such since 2003 and has during those 15 years prosecuted the perpetrators of crimes falling within its jurisdiction. From its inception to date charges were issued against more than 5100 persons, who were charged with war crimes, organized crime, financial crime, corruption, terrorism and other crimes within the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office. That has significantly contributed to the establishment of the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina and a safer and more peaceful living environment for all citizens on the European integration path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
