STATE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE SATISFIED WITH JUDGMENT AND CONFISCATION OF LARGE AMOUNT OF UNLAWFUL PROPERTY GAIN IN GORAN JOVANOVIĆ ET AL. CASE

Following the announcement of the first-instance judgment in this case, the State Prosecutor’s Office is satisfied with the conviction, as well as with the confiscation of a large unlawful material gain and imposition of fines on the persons charged with organised crime, illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and money laundering.

The accused, Goran Jovanović (1964) and Alen Jahić (1978), have been sentenced to six years in prison each while Jаhić has been sanctioned by a fine amounting KM (BAM) 50,000 and confiscation of his expensive Porsche car.

The real estate, garage, as well as €85,000 of unlawful material gain have been confiscated from the accused Jovanović.

This judgment is a significant step in the fight against organised crime, resulting in the confiscation of illegally gained property worth several hundreds of thousands of KM (BAM).

Significant international cooperation has been provided in this case, as these were crimes with international elements.

Once the prosecutor on the case from the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption receives a written copy of the judgment, they will analyse it and make a decision whether to file an appeal and request a more severe punishment.
