PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE AND SIPA CARRIED OUT OPERATION AIMED AT PROSECUTION OF ILLICIT TRADE IN EXCISE PRODUCTS

By order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, police officers of SIPA arrested suspects at 9 locations and conducted searches related to 7 persons suspected of Organized Crime (Article 250 of the CC BiH) and Illicit Trade in Excise Products (Article 210a of the CC BiH).

The searches were carried out at 9 locations in the areas of Sarajevo, Ilijaš, Kakanj, Široki Brijeg and Mostar. 

During the search about 320 kilograms of cut tobacco, tobacco leaves and roots, as well as tools and packaging for tobacco were found.

Trade of such quantity of tobacco involved evasion of tax and excise duties in the amount of more than BAM 30,000 which is the amount of damages caused to the budget of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Following the completion of searches a decision on further activities shall be made i.e. a decision to file a motion for order of custody or prohibiting measures for the suspects.
