The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against an accused person charging him with the criminal offense of Smuggling of Goods under Article 214 (1) and the criminal offense of Preventing Official Person in the Exercise of Official Duty under Article 241a (2) in conjunction with (1) of the CC BiH, as read with Article 53 of the same Code.
A Prosecutor of Department III within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against the following person:
- Dušan Zekanović, born in 1973 in Zenica, BiH citizen
Dušan Zekanović is charged with having loaded large quantities of goods previously smuggled from Serbia in a motor vehicle, together with two other persons, on 23 August 2016 on the banks of the Drina River in Jahovac, Bijeljina municipality, in which he was detected and prevented by the BiH State Border Police.
After committing the criminal offence the accused refused to stop when being indicated to by officers of the Border Police, and went straight for the police officer whom he hit in the head causing minor injuries.
The indictment alleges that after assaulting a police officer the accused Zekanović went into that vehicle and started the engine, in the attempt to escape with part of the smuggled goods contained in the vehicle. The police officer managed to get up, jump into the back of the lorry and then following the struggle with the accused to pull the drive key out of the ignition and to stop the vehicle
During the course of inspecting the interior of the transport vehicle three black plastic bags with textile goods were found as well as 5 other bags on the banks of the Drina River, the total value of which equals BAM 13,884.42
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
