INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN PRIJEDOR

Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes has issued an Indictment against:

INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN PRIJEDOR

-      Boro Milojica, born in 1962 in Prijedor,

-      Želislav Rivić, born in 1954 in Banjaluka

The aforementioned accused persons are charged with acting in violation of the provisions of the international humanitarian law and Geneva Conventions relative to the protection of civilian persons in times of war and with the perpetration of the crimes against humanity against the victims of Bosniak, Roma and Croatian ethnicity in the area of Prijedor, Hambarine, Ravska and Ljubija, in July of 1992, as part of a widespread and systematic attack of military, police and paramilitary formations directed against the non-Serb population in the area of Prijedor and its surroundings, while these accused persons were members of the Ljubija Battalion of the Army of Republika Srpska.

The aforementioned persons are charged with killing, personally and directly, at least nineteen (19) victims, at several locations in the aforementioned areas.

Among other things, these accused persons are charged with the killing of nine (9) Roma victims, as well as nine (9) Bosniak victims and one (1) Croatian victim who was killed in the place called Ravska.

Some of the victims were killed in the presence of their family members.

The Indictment alleges that these accused persons are suspected that, with these killings, they perpetrated the persecution of civilian population of Bosniak, Croatian and Roma ethnicity because of their ethnicity and religion, whereby they committed the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity, as referred to in Article 172 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
