Mr. Goran Salihović, Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and his closest associates have visited the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and met with Mr. Đuro Knežević, SIPA Deputy Director.
At the meeting, the participants have discussed the issue of cooperation between SIPA and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which proves to be extremely intensive with respect to dozens of investigations being conducted by Investigators and police, upon the order of, and in coordination with, Prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Those investigations pertain to cases of organized crime, war crimes, corruption, financial crime, terrorism, international smuggling of narcotic drugs and other criminal offenses the prosecution of which is in the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and SIPA.
Cooperation between these two respective institutions is being conducted on a daily basis, and SIPA police officers and authorized persons of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina are working together in the field and participating in the activities involving evidence collection and conduct of investigative activities.
In the period to come, cooperation with partner institutions in the region and worldwide will also be intensified, for the purpose of conducting as efficient prosecution of all crimes involving interstate and cross-border elements as possible, including prosecution of cases of terrorism, smuggling of narcotic drugs and other criminal offences, all of it as part of our country’s accession to European integrations.
As the conclusion from this meeting, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and SIPA will continue employing their full capacities in the work on the activities falling within their jurisdiction, with the aim of establishing and maintaining the rule of law and creating the safest possible environment for all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to live in.
