By order of a Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, police officers of SIPA arrested two persons in the area of Sarajevo and Grude.
The persons deprived of liberty are suspects with initials R.I. and M.S. - the latter is an employee of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH for whom it was found that he had acted illegally during the investigation without the knowledge of his superiors – Prosecutors as well as that he had failed to follow the established legal procedures, thus committing multiple illegalities and abuse of office.
The Prosecutor’s Office will soon release the full identity of the suspect subject to criminal and disciplinary proceedings. The identity is not revealed at this time in order not to jeopardize investigative activities that are being carried out.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is determined to fight all forms of abuse of office and condemns most severely the illegal actions of its employee who will be subject to both criminal and disciplinary proceedings.
This activity is the result of good and decisive cooperation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has taken all measures to preserve evidence so that the suspects can in no way endanger the pending investigation.
Having questioned the suspects, the Assigned Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed a motion to the Court of BiH for remand in custody of the suspects for 30 days.
Remand in custody is proposed for the reasons stipulated in Article 132, Subparagraph b) of the CPC BiH i.e. due to risk that, if released, the suspects could hinder the investigation, suppress evidence or exert influence on witnesses or accomplices.
