SUSPECT OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN SREBRENICA AREA DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY UPON THE ORDER OF THE BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

Acting upon the order issued by the Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency deprived the following suspect of liberty in the area of Srebrenica:

SUSPECT OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN SREBRENICA AREA DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY UPON THE ORDER OF THE BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

-      Radosav Milovanović, born on 23 November 1954 in Obadi, a resident of Srebrenica, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina as he is suspected of acting in violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law and Geneva Conventions relative to the protection of civilian persons in time of war, as a member of the RS Army, in May of 1992, in the territory of the Municipality of Srebrenica, during the armed conflict between the Republika Srpska Army and the RBiH Army.   

He is suspected of committing the rape and sexual abuse of one Croat women in the second half of May, in Sase in the Municipality of Srebrenica, threatening her with a knife after the rape that he would kill her if she told anyone what had happened to her.

Radosav Milovanović is suspected of the commission of the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians, as referred to in Article 173 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the suspect has been brought to the Prosecutor in charge of this case and questioned in the capacity of a suspect, the Prosecutor will subsequently decide whether to put forward a motion for custody or a motion seeking prohibiting measures against this suspect, in accordance with the law.
