STRONG SUPPORT OF THE INDIRECT TAXATION AUTHORITY OF BIH TO THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH IN THE JOINT FIGHT AGAINST ALL FORMS OF TAX EVASION

In 2014 a recorded BAM 275 million were collected in terms of VAT which is an increase compared to the previous year and is a result of joint efforts and prosecutions of the cases in the fight against illegalities in the area of indirect taxes.

A meeting was held in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH between the Chief Prosecutor - Goran Salihović and the Director of ITA BiH Miro Džakula at which they discussed the cooperation of the two institutions in the fight against all forms of crime related to tax evasion and corruption offenses.

Representatives of the ITA BiH have handed over additional documentation regarding the reports that ITA had previously submitted on unlawful activities and criminal offences in the area of indirect taxes to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the prosecution of which the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH works together with ITA.

During the meeting some future joint activities were agreed especially those planned for the coming year, which will aim to sanction criminal offenses in the area of indirect taxes and improve the collection of budget revenue, which is in the interest of all citizens of our country. 

ITA BiH and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH have formed joint teams (a BiH USKOK) several months ago to work on documenting and prosecuting perpetrators of criminal offenses in the area of indirect taxes and they are already giving significant results.

This segment is extremely important for the European path of our country as the collection of taxes is a priority for the governments in all the world’s developed countries

Joint activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the ITA BiH will continue in the future.
