A Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against Ičanović Hasan (1965) charging him with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Prisoners of War under Article 175 of the CC BiH.
A Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes issued an indictment against the following person:
- Ičanović Hasan aka "Švabo" and "Hans", born on September 16, 1965 in Bužim, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The accused is charged with having acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War during the war in BiH and the armed conflict between the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the National Defense of the Autonomous Province of Western Bosnia while acting in his capacity of the company commander of the 505 brigade - 5th Corps of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The indictment alleges that in late 1994 in the area of Latića Glavica, a place located near Velika Kladuša, he approached a group of some 25 prisoners of war who were lined up having been captured after the battle in the area.
The accused then fired shots from an automatic rifle killing the captured platoon commander and another soldier and proceeded to randomly beat other prisoners with the rifle butt.
The accused is charged with violating the rules of international law governing the treatment of prisoners of war thus committing the criminal offense of War Crimes against Prisoners of War under Article 175 of the CC BiH.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
