The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against one person charged with the criminal offense of Smuggling of Goods, as referred to in Article 214, and the criminal offense of Preventing Official Person in the Exercise of Official Duty, as referred to in Article 241a of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by the application of Article 53 of the same Code.
Prosecutor of the Department III within the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against the following person:
- Željko Deronjić, born on 24 April 1980 in Loznica, in the Republic of Serbia, with permanent residence in Bratunac, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Indictment charges the accused Željko Deronjić with taking over 45 head of cattle, lambs and sheep, on 18 April 2014, in the region of the village of Orlica in the Municipality of Bratunac, as previously agreed with unknown persons from the Republic of Serbia who had transported the respective cattle across the border line from the Republic of Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina; thus, by avoiding the measures of customs control, they perpetrated the smuggling of the aforementioned cattle to Bosnia and Herzegovina without veterinary or any other required documentation, whereby they endangered the health of, and caused a health risk for, the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The accused was detected in the perpetration of this criminal offense by officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Having perpetrated the respective criminal offense and taken over and transported the cattle, the accused refused to stop the freight vehicle he was driving when officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina attempted to stop the vehicle by showing him the stop sign; instead, the accused continued to drive and hit a police officer with the left rear view mirror of his vehicle, thus inflicting physical injuries to the officer’s wrist.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
