In the area of the village of Stankovača, in the Municipality of Rudo, an exhumation is being conducted upon the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and coordinated by an Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The exhumation is being conducted at the site of an extremely deep natural pit and specialists from the SIPA alpine team are searching the pit upon the orders of the Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
So far, mortal remains of several persons have been found, with two skulls and several smaller bones among them. The number and identity of victims whose mortal remains have been found will be determined in a subsequent identification process, through the DNA analysis.
The mortal remains will be transported to Goražde for further forensic processing and identification.
These field activities, supervised and coordinated by the Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, are being attended by SIPA police officers, representatives of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, officers of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist, as well as police officers of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior who are securing the site.
The exhumation process at this site will be continued in the days to follow.
