Acting
on orders of the Court and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH police officers of the
RS Ministry of Interior have, in cooperation with the Federal Police
Department, undertaken activities on detection and arrests of more than 20
persons involved in international drug trafficking, which have continuously smuggled
drugs from the area of Montenegro to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia over
the past six months.
According
to the evidence collected they have, in this manner, smuggled more than 100
kilograms of the narcotic "Cannabis sativa" also known as Marijuana,
"Skunk" and a significant quantity of cigarettes and were finally prevented
in their actions by jointly agreed activities of the police and the prosecutor’s
offices of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.
Along
with activities undertaken in Bosnia and Herzegovina the Croatian police
carried out coordinated activities to locate and arrest 10 persons from the
territory of Croatia.
This joint
investigation also involved police and judicial authorities of Montenegro who
were acting upon the request of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
During
the course of all these activities the suspects were put firmly under control, the
prime suspect S.P. and two other persons are on the run for some time.
Certain
quantities of drugs, as well as evidence of the committed criminal offense were
found during the search.
All
suspects will be questioned by the investigation team of the Special Department
for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption within the Prosecutor’s
Office of BiH which is out in the field. Following the questioning the team
will decide on a motion for remand in custody/imposure of prohibiting measures
against the suspects.
This
operation is the result of international and regional cooperation between the
Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and police agencies with judicial and law
enforcement agencies of the countries in the region.
