A the Conference in Tirana, Albania, attended by the Chief Prosecutors from the countries in the region and European countries, Mr. Goran Salihović, Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has had a notable presentation on the fight against organized crime and the need for an independent judiciary and independent election of Prosecutors in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Central topics of the Conference pertain to the regional cooperation of Prosecutor’s Offices, fight against organized crime with international elements, and the independence of Chief Prosecutors in their work, which is a prerequisite for establishing the rule of law and independent judiciary.
The Chief Prosecutors’ meeting in Tirana is attended, among others, by Chief Prosecutors and representatives of the Prosecutor’s Offices from the countries in the region and from several countries of the European Union, as well as representatives of the EU Association of Prosecutors – EUROJUST.
The Chief Prosecutor Salihović has informed these eminent participants about the situation in the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina, activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the fight against organized crime and corruption, position of the Chief Prosecutor in the judicial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina and attempts to exert political influence on the work of the judiciary.
In his presentation, he has noted that the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina resumes its work in the process of establishing the rule of law and prosecuting perpetrators of criminal offenses falling within the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to create as safe an environment for all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina as possible in the upcoming process of European integrations.
The Chief Prosecutors’ professional workshop, which is being held in Tirana, has been organized by the Office of the Chief Prosecutor of Albania and the European Commission.
