The delegation of the officials from the United Kingdom, led by Mr. William Hague, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, has visited the judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and met with the Chief Prosecutor Goran Salihović and Prosecutors from the Special Department for War Crimes.
The officials of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina have introduced the visitors to the history of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the results achieved so far in the prosecution of war crimes cases.
The representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina have expressed their appreciation to the Government of the United Kingdom for the assistance and support in the process of judicial reform and strengthening of the capacities of the judicial institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The delegation from the United Kingdom has supported the efforts of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in establishing the rule of law and in prosecuting cases of wartime sexual violence as part of their work on war crimes cases, as they are key elements in establishing justice and reconciliation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Clear support has been expressed for the independence of judiciary and strengthening of capacities of judicial institutions, in order to prosecute and punish perpetrators of war crimes and other criminal offenses and create a safer environment for all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
