INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST ESAD ČANDIĆ (1960)

A Prosecutor of the Department III of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has issued an Indictment against Esad Čandić, born on 16 December 1960 in the place of Šatorovići in Brčko, where he also resides, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, charged with the commission of the criminal offense of Giving Gifts and Other Forms of Benefits, as referred to in Article 218, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Indictment charges Esad Čandić with promising a gift to an official person in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 29 December 2013, at 10.40 a.m., at the intersection of the Kozarska Dubica- Kostajnica- Prijedor main road in the place of Bačvani in the Kozarska Dubica Municipality, in order for that person to abstain from performing within the scope of his official powers of an act which ought to be performed by him.

As alleged in the Indictment, during the control of his Mercedes Sprinter truck and the Anssems towed vehicle, with Croatian registration plates, containing used technical equipment from abroad without any documentation on the origin of goods or tax duties paid, the accused gave one hundred Swiss Francs (CHF 100.00) to the authorized officials to let him leave as if uncontrolled, but they refused to receive the aforementioned banknote and reported this case to the appropriate authorities.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
