CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ASSOCIATIONS OF WAR CRIMES VICTIMS. REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ASSOCIATIONS OF VICTIMS EXPRESSED THEIR SUPPORT TO THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH AND THE REGIONAL COOPERATION IN THE PROSECUTION OF WAR CRIMES

The Chief Prosecutor - Goran Salihović met with representatives of the Association of Camp Prisoners of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves Movement.

CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ASSOCIATIONS OF WAR CRIMES VICTIMS. REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ASSOCIATIONS OF VICTIMS EXPRESSED THEIR SUPPORT TO THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH AND THE REGIONAL COOPERATION IN THE PROSECUTION OF WAR CRIMES

The prosecution of war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed at the meeting as well as the pace of prosecution in the future and the cooperation of the prosecutors’ offices in the region within the framework of the Protocol on Cooperation in Prosecution of War Crimes.

 

The representatives of Victims’ Associations have supported the regional cooperation on the basis of the Protocol on cooperation and were interested in the dynamics of the exchange of evidence between the prosecutor’s offices of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, for the purpose of prosecution of war crimes perpetrators from Bosnia and Herzegovina who can be found in the territory of Serbia.

 

The Chief Prosecutor informed the representatives of Victims’ Associations about the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH on tracing the missing victims of war crimes and on improving the pace of work of the Special Department for War Crimes in 2014.

 

Representatives of the Association of Camp Prisoners of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Associations of Victims of War Crimes from the area of Srebrenica have expressed their strong support to the work of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the implementation of the Protocol on Cooperation between the regional prosecutor’s office in prosecution of war crimes.

 

The conclusion of this meeting is that it is necessary to continue developing the cooperation with the associations of victims of war crimes in order to achieve the common goals such as prosecuting and punishing the war crimes perpetrators and locating the remains of war crimes victims that have been missing for two decades.
