The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has issued an Indictment against Uzeir Čović, charged with the commission of the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons, as referred to in Article 189, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH, as read with Article 26 of the same Code.
Prosecutor of the Department III of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has issued an Indictment against Uzeir Čović, born on 25 May 1974 in Cazin Municipality, resident of Velika Kladuša Municipality, citizen of BiH.
Uzeir Čović is charged with arranging with persons known to him illegal transport of five citizens of the Republic of Turkey from the territory of Cazin Municipality in Bosnia and Herzegovina to the territory of the Republic of Croatia, for money and out of personal gain, knowing that those persons do not meet the legally prescribed requirements for crossing the state border and entering the Republic of Croatia.
As alleged in the Indictment, on 16 July 2008, after a previous agreement, Uzeir Čović and persons known to him were supposed to transport illegal emigrants to the territory of the Republic of Croatia for an agreed amount of EUR 1,900.00.
The accused and the persons know to him put the illegal emigrants into two passenger vehicles with BiH registration plates and drove them close to the state border of the Republic of Croatia. When the emigrants came out of the car to enter the Republic of Croatia on foot, they were detected and prevented from doing so by the authorized officials of the Velika Kladuša Border Police Unit.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
