The Prosecutor's Office issued an indictment against Drago SAMARDŽIJA, charging him with the criminal offense of crimes against humanity.
Prosecutor of the Regional Team I of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against Drago SAMARDŽIJA, born on January 14, 1946 in Ključ municipality, residing in Belgrade, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia.
The suspect Drago SAMARDŽIJA is charged to have, from mid June 1992 through to the end of 1992, as the commander of the 17th Light Infantry Brigade, along with members of the Public Security Station Ključ and members of the Crisis Staff of Ključ municipality, participated in the implementation of the strategic objectives of the Assembly of the Serb People of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by way of ordering the attacks on undefended villages that were inhabited by Muslim population.
The attacks on villages Ramići, Krasulje, Hripavci, Ošljak, Donji Biljani Botonjić, Domazeti, Brkići and Jabukovica resulted with killings of hundreds of civilians. A group of survivors was mentally and physically abused, another group was illegally incarcerated in Manjača camp, and the remaining population was forcibly resettled outside the territory of the Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The victims of the attack led under the command of suspect Drago SAMARDŽIJA were exhumed and identified in several mass graves located in the area of Ključ.
The accused is charged with having committed the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph h) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with Article 180, Paragraph 1 of the same Code.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
