Intensive efforts on the locality of Tomašica in Prijedor Municipality continue.
It is presumed that this primary mass grave contains the bodies of Bosniak and Croat victims from Prijedor area who were killed in the summer of 1992.
The mass grave site was found on September 3, 2013 and was hidden with artificial mounds of soil. Careful excavation at the site detected a several meters deep layer of piled mortal remains.
At the depth of some seven meters a number of complete and incomplete remains as well as some personal effects of the victims were unearthed. The recovered remains shall be transported to the Identification Center Šejkovača in Sanski Most for forensic processing and identification.
Investigator of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH is out in the field coordinating the efforts of all persons involved in the exhumation process.
Recovery of a significant number of remains is expected in the upcoming period as, according to the evidence gathered, this location contains a large number of victims from Prijedor and surrounding area.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and other institutions involved in the exhumation process are undertaking intensive activities in order to secure the location and organize the process of exhumation, as well as the subsequent forensic processing and identification.
