INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST NEDŽAD HODŽIĆ (1969) AND DŽEVAD SALČIN (1956) FOR WAR CRIMES AGAINST CIVILIANS AND PRISONERS OF WAR

Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against the following persons:

-        Nedžad HODŽIĆ, aka Džoni and Džon Vejn, born in 1969 in Novi Pazar, a citizen of BiH.

-        Dževad SALČIN aka "Struja", born in 1956 in Gacko, a citizen of BiH.

The accused are charged to have committed the criminal offense of war crimes against Serbs and Croats in the area of Igman, at the site of hotel "Mrazište" and other locations during the armed conflict in the first half of 1993 as members of the Special Purpose Detachment of the Supreme Command Staff of the R BiH Army - "Zulfikar".

As alleged in the indictment, the accused persons personally participated in the torture, mistreatment and beating of victims, as well as in torture in extremely demeaning ways, sexual abuse, cutting off body parts, intimidation and other inhumane acts.

One prisoner had died as a result of beating and abuse.

Victims of the crimes were Serbs who were brought from Silos and Krupa camps located in Tarčin and Croats who were brought from Musala camp located in Konjic.

The accused are charged with having committed the criminal offence of War Crimes Against Civilians under Article 173 and War Crimes Against Prisoners of War under Article 175 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
