Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH - Goran Salihović and Deputy Chief Prosecutors Vesna Budimir and Dragan Čorlija, met today with a delegation of the Association of Women-Victims of War, headed by Bakira Hasečić.
Cooperation of the associations of victims with the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in the prosecution of war crimes and in particularly cases related to war crimes of rape and sexual abuse, were discussed at the meeting.
Representatives of victims’ associations have expressed their support to the work of the Prosecutor’s Office, as well as support to activities of the Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the increase of number of prosecutors, especially in the Special Department for War Crimes.
Current and future modalities of cooperation between the victims and prosecutors of the Special Department for War Crimes, was also discussed, aiming to be more efficient in the work on these cases.
The Protocol on cooperation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH with neighboring countries, and the possibility of some cases being prosecuted through instruments provided by the Protocol aiming to prevent impunity were also discussed.
It was agreed that the cooperation should be intensified in the future.
Following a recent meeting with representatives of the associations of Serb victims, this is the second time that the representatives of the war crimes victims supported the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in its activities to increase the existing capacities, particularly in the Special Department for War Crimes.
A meeting with representatives of the Associations of Croat victims in BiH will soon follow.
