Following the meeting with the representatives of the associations of Serb war crimes victims in BiH and the fact that they supported strengthening the capacities of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH as well as increase in the number of prosecutors in the aim of more efficient prosecution of war crimes, the Prosecutor's Office views this as a positive development in cooperation and capacity strengthening of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH initiated activities to increase the number of prosecutors in the future and to prosecute war-crimes cases as efficiently as possible.
Currently the Prosecutor's Office of BiH employs 37 prosecutors, of which 20 are assigned to the Special Department for War Crimes and are working on a large number of cases.
Due to significant workload, assessments were made and its results indicated that such a large number of cases would require recruitment of 241 prosecutors to work on war crimes cases.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH would be significantly assisted if it were allowed to engage 20 more prosecutors in the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has already addressed the HJPC BiH with regards to this situation in order to proceed with such activities.
