Prosecutor of Department III within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against Srdjan ZEKIĆ - born on January 29, 1975 in Sarajevo, permanently residing in Sarajevo and Frankfurt-Germany, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina - charging him with the criminal offense of Abuse of Office or Official Authority under Article 220 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
The indictment alleges that Srdjan ZEKIĆ has , on November 29, 2010 while working as a vice consul at the General Consulate of the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Frankfurt-Germany, acted contrary to the provisions of Articles 3 and 18 of the Rulebook on Procedure of issuing visas in diplomatic and consular offices of BiH and on technical issues of conditions for issuing airport transit visa (Visa A) and a transit visa (Visa B), "Official Gazette of BIH" No. 26/09.
The accused is charged with having prepared to issue seventeen visas for a short-term stay in BiH for Ghana nationals, stating that he had interviewed the applicants although those citizens of the Republic of Ghana did not stay in Germany nor did they apply for the visas in person, thus failing to meet the requirements for obtaining visas.
Consequently, the accused is charged to have, as an official in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, taken advantage of office or official authority to not perform his official duty thus providing benefits to another, thereby committing the criminal offense of Abuse of Office or Official Authority under Article 220 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
