Ambassador of the Republic of France in BiH, H. E. Roland Gilles visited the Prosecutor’s office of BiH together with a representative of French Prosecutor’s Office and other associates, and met with the Chief Prosecutor Goran Salihović and his associates.
Cooperation and support provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina by the Government of the Republic of France, particularly that provided to law enforcement and judicial institutions, were discussed as well as cooperation of law enforcement institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of France.
The Chief Prosecutor informed the Ambassador about the current activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as about the activities planned for the future concerning capacity building for more effective prosecution of all forms of crime whose prosecution is within the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, particularly with the activities related to the fight against corruption, effective prosecution of war crimes, and the fight against organized crime and terrorism.
Also discussed were the issues concerning cooperation in the field of Justice where support was expressed to an independent judiciary through the structural dialogue as well as to the appointment of prosecutors by the HJPC BiH.
During the meeting the upcoming relocation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH to a new building, the aim of which is to ensure the required capacities and working conditions for employees of the Prosecutor’s Office, was also discussed.
The process of training and education of staff employed in the judiciary and law enforcement agencies provided through the support of the French Embassy in BiH was also a topic of discussion.
Ambassador Gilles expressed his support to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in the process of establishing the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
