Hundreds of police officers participate in the action, and SIPA is in charge of the activities involving police officers from law enforcement agencies of the respective Entities and Brčko District. This investigation is aimed at shedding light on at least six unresolved murders and attempted murders in Republika Srpska and Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as on several bank robberies and money transports in multi-million amounts and a series of serious criminal offenses of organized crime.
Pursuant to an Order of the Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, a joint police action is being conducted involving the filed work of hundreds of police officers and officers of law enforcement agencies at the state and entity levels, coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office.
This action is the most extensive activity in the fight against organized crime conducted in the post-Dayton BiH and it represents a decisive blow to organized crime throughout BiH. As part of the undertaken activities, several dozens of persons were deprived of liberty and searches of a large number of locations in several cities were conducted.
This activity is directed against several criminal organizations which committed these crimes in different periods of time. In this case, significant cooperation was established with police and judicial agencies in the neighboring countries in which some of the suspects are currently residing.
The activities are aimed at detecting and prosecuting suspects of at least six unresolved murders and attempted murders in the past ten years and several bank robberies and money transports in multi-million amounts, smuggling of narcotics, as well as of other very serious criminal offenses of organized crime.
This activity represents a decisive blow of judiciary and law enforcement agencies to organized crime in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the purpose of creating the safest possible environment for all the citizens of our country.
In this case, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH established significant and good cooperation with several law enforcement agencies participating in the work on this case, namely:
- District Prosecutor’s Office of Istočno Sarajevo,
- State Investigation and Protection Agency- SIPA,
- Ministry of the Interior of Republika Srpska,
- Police Department of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
- Police of the Ministry of the Interior of Sarajevo Canton and
- Police of the Brčko District of BiH.
