During the course of the operation a number of persons were deprived of liberty and detained and several locations in Bijeljina and Foča were searched. The suspects shall be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH within the legal deadline.
By order of the Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, police officers of the Republika Srpska MoI, carried out an extensive operation codenamed "Titan". Officials of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH coordinated the efforts of the police out in the field.
The operation is aimed at detecting and prosecuting a number of persons, suspected of international drug narcotic smuggling.
Some of the suspects are already in the penitentiaries in BiH and abroad while a number of suspects were deprived of liberty in the operation, which began early this morning.
Along with the detentions, a number of facilities were searched in an effort to gather evidence in the case.
Persons who are under investigation are suspected of smuggling large quantities of heavy narcotic drugs. During the investigation in this case cooperation was established with the judicial and police institutions of neighboring countries.
According to the evidence gathered, some of the suspects were among the major traffickers of cocaine for the territory of BiH.
Following the arrests the Prosecutor shall question the suspects and decide whether to file a motion for custody or impose prohibitive measures for the suspects.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH continues its investigation in this case in the aim of issuing indictments.
