Prosecutor of the Section III of the BiH Prosecutor's Office has filed an Indictment against Radovan Stanković aka ‘Rašo’, born on 10 March 1969 in Foča, charged with the criminal offense of Escape of a Detained Person in violation of Article 374 of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska.
By the Indictment of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the accused Radovan Stanković, who has been sentenced to imprisonment for a term of twenty (20) years by the final and binding Verdict of the Court of BiH for the war crimes committed in the territory of Foča, is charged with escaping from serving his prison sentence in the Foča Penal and Correctional Facility on 25 May 2007, around 1 PM.
The Indictment alleges that, when Stanković was taken to be medically examined, while he was going out of the special transport vehicle, he pushed hard a guard of the Foča Penal and Correctional Facility in front of the Foča Medical Center to move him aside and then entered a car parked nearby and took off in an unknown direction.
As a lawfully detained person, the accused is charged with escaping by using force on another person, whereby he committed the criminal offense of Escape of a Detained Person in violation of Article 374 of the Criminal Code of Republika Srpska.
After years of flight, Radovan Stanković was arrested on 21 January 2012 in Foča and taken to continue serving his sentence of imprisonment for war crimes he had committed.
The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
