An exhumation was carried out on April 10, 2012 at the location of Šamlići village - Čajniče municipality under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH. The remains of two persons, assumed to be Bosniaks killed in 1992, were exhumed.
Following the recovery the remains were transported to Goražde. The identity of the victims shall be established through further forensic processing and DNA analysis.
The exhumation process was supervised by an investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, a doctor working in the field of forensic medicine – an expert pathologist, as well as Police Officers of Čajniče PS and RS MoI, who have investigated the scene and secured the location.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other law enforcement agencies and institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing persons in BiH and their identification, continues its activities in the process of tracing and exhuming the remains of war crimes victims in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
