The Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against Rasema HANDANOVIĆ charging her with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph c) and War Crime against Prisoners of War under Article 175, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph a) of the CC BiH, in conjunction with Article 180, Paragraph 1 and Article 29 of the same Code.
Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against Rasema HANDANOVIC AKA "Zolja", born on September 25, 1972 in Sanski Most, citizen of BiH, who was deprived of liberty on April 13, 2011 on the territory of the United States and extradited to BiH and who has been in custody as of December 28, 2011.
Rasema HANDANOVIĆ is charged to have, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a member of the Special Detachment for Special Purposes within the Headquarters of the Supreme Command of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina "Zulfikar", acted contrary to the Geneva Conventions of 1949 related to Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War and Treatment of Prisoners of War.
The indictment alleges that in the morning hours of April 16, 1993 the accused Rasema HANDANOVIĆ has participated in a well-prepared and earlier planned attack on the Croat populated village - Trusina, located in the municipality of Konjic, during which she participated in the execution by shooting of several civilians and prisoners of war.
