Yesterday and today the clearing up of the terrain was carried out in the municipalities of Zvornik and Srebrenica, resulting with uncovery of the skeletal remains of victims of the war.
On Monday, March 19, 2012 the clearing up of the terrain was carried out in the wider area of Crni vrh, at three micro-sites (Križevačke njive, Gušteri and Rudine) resulting with the uncovery of several skeletal remains of victims of the war.
On March 20, 2012 several incomplete skeletal remains were also fount at Palež - Sućeska a place located in the Srebrenica municipality.
The process of clearing up of the terrain was coordinated by the investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and was attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, an expert forensic pathologist as well as police officers of the RS MoI, who investigated the scene and secured the location.
Following the recovery, the skeletal remains shall be transported to the Memorial Center in Tuzla for forensic processing and collection of bone marrow samples required for DNA analysis, aiming to determine the identity of the victims found.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other law enforcement agencies and institutions involved in the process of tracing and identifying the missing persons, continues to work in the process of tracing and exhuming the remains of war crimes victims in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina
