KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND DUTIES
For the purpose of providing better information to victims and witnesses in criminal proceedings, the OSCE Mission to BiH has prepared a leaflet titled "Know Your Rights and Duties".
The leaflet provides victims and witnesses in criminal proceedings with clear and specific explanation of their rights and duties, thus facilitating their participation in criminal proceedings.
In addition, the victims also have at their disposal a Form intended for submission of redress claims in the framework of criminal proceedings.
The application of this instruction and form is aimed at facilitating the exercise of victims' rights in criminal proceedings in BiH, and at offering support to victims by providing practical information on their legal position.
In addition, the organization TRIAL International - its office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which specialises in victim support, has developed a practical guide for obtaining compensation for damages in criminal proceedings in war crimes cases. In this brochure, victims of war crimes or other crimes can find all the details on how to seek compensation of damages within criminal proceedings. The guide provides answers on how victims can obtain free legal assistance and how they can get involved in criminal proceedings to compensate damages.
The guide acquaints victims with their rights and answers frequently asked questions about property claims, but also provides information on free legal assistance and psychological support available to them. It can be found at the link below.
