OVERVIEW OF IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES FOR THE WEEK FROM 18 THROUGH TO 22 MAY 2026
22.05.2026. 11:58INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR COUNTERFEITING OF MONEY
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued an indictment against Hikmet Pandžić*, born in 1980, citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with previous convictions. He is charged with having, sometime in the mid 2024, after acquiring several counterfeit euro banknotes in denominations of 50 euros, attempted to put the counterfeit banknotes into regular payment circulation in sales facilities in the area of Breza on several occasions. Having received complaints about the aforementioned events, the police officers of PS Breza found and confiscated the counterfeit banknotes from him. He is accused of trying to put counterfeit money into circulation as genuine money, thereby committing the criminal offense of Counterfeiting of Money under Article 205, paragraph 1, in conjunction with Article 26 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
REMAND IN CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR AZERBAIJAN CITIZEN FOR MIGRANT SMUGGLING
The Prosecutor on call of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed a motion to the Court of BiH to order remand in custody for the suspect Ravin Salayev*, born in 1988 in Masala, a citizen of Azerbaijan. The aforementioned person is suspected of having participated in the smuggling of 4 illegal migrants, citizens of Egypt, who illegally entered BiH from the territory of Montenegro, where the suspect, who had previously entered BiH from Montenegro by vehicle, took them in with the intention of transporting them to the area of Sarajevo for the purpose of obtaining unlawful property gain but was discovered and prevented by members of the RS MoI, Police Station Gacko. The suspect is charged with having committed the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189, paragraph 2, of the Criminal Code of BiH. The remand in custody was proposed for the reasons prosecibed in Article 132, paragraph 1, item a) of the Criminal Code of BiH, namely due to the risk of flight because he is a foreign citizen.
EXHUMATION PROCESS CARRIED OUT IN THE SREBRENICA AREA
On 21 May 2026 an exhumation process was carried out at the Moćevići site, in the Srebrenica municipality. During the course of the process incomplete remains of one person were found and transferred to the Tuzla Commemorative Centre for further forensic processing and identification through DNA analysis. The exhumation process, supervised by an investigator from the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, was attended by a forensic pathologist, representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons (IMO) of BiH and the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) in BiH, as well as police officers from the Srebrenica Police Station who secured the location.
REMAND IN CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR PERSON SUSPECTED OF ILLICIT INTERNATIONAL DRUG TRAFFICKING
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed a motion to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to order remand in custody for the suspect Marinko Predojević*, born in 1981 in Prijedor, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the reasons prescribed by Article 132, paragraph 1, points a), b) and c) of the CPC of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The suspect was deprived of liberty in the operation carried out by SIPA in the area of Banja Luka, and during the search of a passenger motor vehicle with foreign license plates, about two kilograms of powdery substance, which resembled the narcotic drug "Cocaine" was found. The aforementioned suspect is under investigation for the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs under Article 195, paragraph 2, in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH. He is suspected of having , during the period from September 2025 to date, organized the procurement and sale of narcotic drugs from EU countries in BiH on two occasions. The activities in this case were carried out in cooperation with partner institutions in the region and Europe.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
