INDICTMENT FILED FOR ILLICIT TRADE IN EXCISE GOODS - TOBACCO OF HIGHER VALUE

A Prosecutor of the Prosecutors Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment against Božo Sopta, born in 1967 in Široki Brijeg, citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.

 

 

INDICTMENT FILED FOR ILLICIT TRADE IN EXCISE GOODS - TOBACCO OF HIGHER VALUE

According to the indictment, the charges against the defendant are that he, in order to acquire unlawful property gain, dealt in the illicit trade in excise goods without authorisation, that is, that on two occasions he attempted to put into circulation a large amount of excise goods, tobacco, which was not labelled with control and tax stamps in the manner prescribed by the tax legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the intention of making a profit by selling the said tobacco.

 

According to the indictment, the defendant transported by a motor vehicle cut tobacco in a total amount of 440 kg, that is, on two occasions – 220 kg each, packed in PVC bags, for which he did not have the necessary documentation. He was discovered during a control in the area of Hadžići and Vitez, and was prevented from doing this by authorised officers of the BiH Indirect Taxation Authority.

 

The amount of evaded excise duties and levies for the specified amount of tobacco is BAM 69,964.40.

 

The defendant is charged with having committed the extended criminal offence of illicit trade in excise goods in violation of Article 210a (1) of the CC BiH, in conjunction with Articles 26 and 54 of the same Code.

 

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
