CHIEF PROSECUTOR MEETS WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF CIVIPOL TO BIH

A meeting was held in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH between the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, Milanko Kajganić, officials of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and CIVIPOL representatives headed by Mr. Jean-Philippe Verne, Project Manager. The meeting was initiated by representatives of the French Embassy to Sarajevo - Office for Internal Security headed by Mr Philippe Gangloff, Colonel of the National Gendarmerie and Attaché for Internal Security.

 

CHIEF PROSECUTOR MEETS WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF CIVIPOL TO BIH

CIVIPOL, which operates under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of France, is present in more than 80 countries around the world and it carries out activities aimed at strengthening the cooperation of law enforcement agencies, delivering specialist trainings in various areas of the fight against serious and organised crime, and exchanging experiences between law enforcement agencies.

 

The Chief Prosecutor informed the CIVIPOL representatives about the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in the field of regional and international cooperation of prosecutorial institutions, as well as about the fact that the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH participates in a large number of joint operations with prosecutorial institutions and partner law enforcement agencies in the countries of the region, in the countries of the European Union and around the world.

 

The central topic of the meeting was the fight against human trafficking and illegal migration, and the Chief Prosecutor informed the CIVIPOL representatives about the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the BiH Task Force for Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings and Organised Illegal Immigration. The CIVIPOL officials pointed out that France, as a country with a high rate and risk of migrations, had solutions it used in practice in that area, which ould be of use to BiH as well, and that in the coming period, an exchange of experiences with experts from France in the field of combating illegal migration would be organised.

 

The meeting discussed the projects and activities that CIVIPOL will implement in the coming period, as well as the possibilities of participation of the Prosecutor’s Office BiH in the mentioned activities, primarily in the field of specialist trainings of representatives of prosecutor’s offices and law enforcement agencies.

 

The visit was payed as part of the EU4FAST-WB Project, which is implemented in the area of the Western Balkans by four partners: GIZ, CIVIPOL, CILC and the Ministry of the Interior of Italy.
