ACCUSED ANIL AHMAD (1999), CITIZEN OF AFGHANISTAN, PLEADS GUILTY FOR SMUGGLING OF MIGRANTS

The accused Anil Ahmad, born in 1999 in Afghanistan, who is remanded in custody in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has fully pleaded guilty to the criminal offence of Smuggling of Persons, for which he is charged in the Indictment of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

Pursuant to the agreement, a twelve-month prison sentence has been proposed against the accused.

The accused Ahmad is charged with smuggling ten migrants, citizens of Afghanistan, across the water border on the Drina river in September this year.

The proposed sentence is adequate to the role and responsibilities of the accused in committing the said criminal offence.

By pleading guilty, the accused waives his right to a trial and the right to appeal the judgment delivered against him by the Court of BiH on the basis of the agreement.

Thus, the case is fully completed and the costs of trial and proceedings that would be paid from the BiH budget are reduced.

The agreement was forwarded to the Court of BiH.
