INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST AFGHANISTAN CITIZENS FOR SMUGGLING ILLEGAL MIGRANTS FROM SERBIA TO BIH

The accused Anil Ahmad (1999), a citizen of Afghanistan, is charged with smuggling 10 illegal migrants, including one minor, across the border on the Drina River in order to acquire illegal property gain.

INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST AFGHANISTAN CITIZENS FOR SMUGGLING ILLEGAL MIGRANTS FROM SERBIA TO BIH

A Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has filed an indictment against:

-          Anil Ahmad, born in 1999 in Logar, Afghanistan, a citizen of Afghanistan, who is in custody.

The accused is charged that on September 25 this year he, together with persons known to him, in order to acquire illegal property gain, smuggled 10 illegal migrants from the territory of Afghanistan, who did not meet the conditions for legal entry and stay in BiH, including one minor child, contrary to Article 6 of the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air, supplementing the UN Convention against Transnational and Organised Crime.

The Indictment alleges that the accused, in agreement with the persons known to him, near the town of Ročević, Zvornik Municipality, took migrants on the Serbian side of the border and transported them by boat to the territory of BiH, where they were discovered by BiH Border Police officers.

The accused is charged with the criminal offence of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
