INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR ILLEGAL TRADE IN EXCISE PRODUCTS

A Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has filed an indictment against:

INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR ILLEGAL TRADE IN EXCISE PRODUCTS

-      PREDRAG JOVANOVIĆ, born in 1972 in Sarajevo, with criminal record, citizen of BiH.

The accused is charged with illegally obtaining a large quantity of excise goods - tobacco, which were not marked with control and tax stamps in the manner prescribed by the tax legislation of BiH, with an intention of placing the tobacco on the illegal market.

According to the indictment, the accused transported in a passenger motor vehicle approximately 180 kilos of cut tobacco, for which he did not have necessary documentation, and while driving the said vehicle in the Olovo area, he was controlled by police officers of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior, on which occasion the tobacco in question was found and sized.

The amount of evaded excise duties for the stated amount of tobacco is around BAM 25,000. The illegal trafficking of large quantities of tobacco causes damage to the budget and all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and perpetrators of these criminal offences acquire large amounts of illegal property gain.

The accused is charged with the criminal offense of attempted Illicit Trafficking in Excise Products under Article 210a in conjunction with Article 26 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
