The accused Milenko Gojgolović (1955) is charged with a war crime against civilians committed in the summer of 1992.

INDICTMENT FILED FOR WAR CRIMES IN VLASENICA

A prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes filed an indictment against:

- Milenko Gojgolović, born in 1955 in Vlasenica, citizen of BiH and Canada.

The Accused is charged that he, during the war and armed conflict in BiH, as a member of the VRS Drina Corps Unit, violated the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.

The accused is charged that in July 1992 he, armed with automatic weapons, gun and knife and wearing a military uniform, entered the Sušica camp in Vlasenica where Bosniak civilians, including women and children, were illegally detained.

At the aforementioned location, the Sušica detention camp warden, Dragan Nikolić (convicted in the ICTY in The Hague), handed over to the accused Gojgolović the aggrieved victim, Bosniak woman from the Vlasenica area, who had previously been taken out of a hangar.

The indictment alleges that the accused took the victim to an abandoned house within the camp compound, where he threatened her life with his firearms, physically and mentally mistreated her, beat her in her head and her body with his hands and committed rape and sexual assault on her, which caused permanent consequences for the aggrieved woman.

The Accused is charged with having committed a criminal offence of War Crimes against Civilians.

The Prosecution will prove the allegations from the indictment by summoning about 20 witnesses and presenting several dozens of evidentiary materials.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
