PURSUANT TO THE ORDER OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH 11 CUSTOMS OFFICERS WERE DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY FOR CORRUPTION CRIMES

During the course of the operation codenamed ‘Brand’, customs officers, suspected of committing the criminal offense of Accepting Gifts or Other Forms of Benefits, were deprived of liberty at the border crossings Gradiška, Šamac and Orašje.

PURSUANT TO THE ORDER OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH  11 CUSTOMS OFFICERS WERE DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY FOR CORRUPTION CRIMES

Acting on the order of the Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, the police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency-SIPA arrested 11 customs officers, employees of the ITA BiH, at the border crossings Gradiška, Orašje and Šamac.

The suspects are under investigation for corruption crimes and are suspected of illegally accepting money or other forms of benefits, during the past year and this year, in order to omit customs control measures that were mandatory when importing goods in BiH.

In this way they acquired illegal property gain and caused damages to the budget i.e. all citizens of BiH.

The suspects will be handed over to the Assigned Prosecutor who will question the suspects and afterwards make a decision on further activities in the case.
